Principles of the Euroschool

The Euroschool consists of three types of lectures. Basic tutorials offer the elements of materials science, with an emphasis on a particular topic selected as a priority for a particular Euroschool. Advanced tutorials complement and upgrade basic tutorials on selected topics. Special invited lectures are given by scientists with the highest reputation who – as legendary figures – offer interesting and challenging presentations to the Euroschool’s students. Basic tutorials (BTs) are easy to comprehend and are at the level of undergraduate teaching (e.g., in master courses) at universities. The purpose is to provide basic knowledge in the field and to motivate students. Advanced tutorials (ATs)  augment the teaching in the BTs and offer additional topics. Here, the contributions of people from industry are included. There are also one or two Special invited lectures (SILs). The social side of the meeting is promoted by keeping the evenings free for more relaxed activities.
